From Nowetah’s American Indian Museum

This model was found in the Nowetah’s American Indian Museum. This museum is a wonderful experience. If you are ever in the New Portland area stop by! they are open all year seven days a week and it is free. The museum is also attached to the gift store. All of the objects in the store are made by the owners who are both Native Americans. They are also an only cash shop so make sure you have some if you find a souvenir you can not leave without. I found this model of the encampment for the Abenaki near the Kennebec river. The most important part of the photo was that where the encampment was is now the Evergreen Camp ground. The fact that the living sight for these Indians was depleted to a campground was very sad because there is no evidence other then the stone artifacts.
